This carefully crafted Panama City itinerary invites you to explore this waterfront destination with vibrant neighborhoods, and a thriving cultural scene.
Take a weekend and immerse yourself in the unique experiences the city has to offer.
From the newest waterfront luxury at Hotel Indigo to hidden tattoo parlors and speakeasy-style lounges, each day unfolds with fun experiences from the outdoors to the creative with loads of good food in between.
Day 1
Plan your arrival to Panama City so that you can start your weekend with an educational and fun eco-adventure. Flippin’ Awesome Adventures with Captain Chris, a marine biologist, guides you through a dolphin and marine excursion like no other. This is a not to miss activity when visiting Panama City.
Afterwards head over to the Hotel Indigo, the newest waterfront gem in Panama City, to check-in for your weekend stay. With a backdrop of beautiful water views and modern elegance, this hotel promises a luxurious stay. Enjoy its amenities, from the rooftop bar to the fitness center. Plus, be sure to find time to relax on the porch while watching the sun set.
Next up you’d be remiss to not delve into the eclectic vibe of Thistle & Thorne where you can enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail and, if you’re so inclined, visit the speakeasy tattoo parlor, The Prominent Goat, located in the back.
Located downtown Panama City, this cocktail lounge promises to be an interesting visit. Also offers up music and special events on select nights. Check their FB or IG for details. Fun fact, this is the only cocktail bar I’ve stumbled across that has a skelteon on display as part of the decor.
Conclude your day with a delicious dinner; we recommend the Hotel Indigo rooftop bar Steam on 5 or the lively indoor/outdoor venue Lone Star Boil which also has live music and events on select nights.
Day 2
Kickstart your morning with a delightful coffee/tea/light breakfast at The Press. This adorable coffeehouse in the historic downtown district is renowned for its crepes and light bites, setting the perfect tone for a day of exploration.
Embark on a journey through the historic St. Andrews neighborhood, where the bayside Oaks by the Bay Park showcases the city’s resilience. Visit local treasures like the Panama City Publishing Museum, GypsyBeach Treasured Kreations, and St. Andrews Bodega.
Lunch awaits at Finn’s in Little Village, offering coastal comfort food in a quaint setting.
As the afternoon unfolds, delve into the revitalized Historic Downtown Panama City. Look for murals (hint they are numerous and easy to find), find local gems like C&G Sporting Goods, Baywitch, LH Bead Gallery, and soak in art at the Panama City Center for Arts.
Don’t miss a hands-on experience at Panama City Hot Glass for a personalized glass-blowing class.
As evening approaches, set sail on a Sunset Cruise on the Grand Mere from Papa Joe’s Bayside. While you wait for your cruise enjoy oversized lawn games, beach bonfires, and live music at this family-friendly marina.
For dinner, return to Downtown Panama City and savor the flavors of El Weirdo Taco, House of Henry, or Harrison’s Kitchen & Bar.
Day 3
Begin your day with a satisfying breakfast at the hotel or venture to Bagel Maker or Big Mama’s on the Bayou for a country-style breakfast.
Now that you’re fueled up head back out with Grand Mere Cruises for a Snorkel and Dolphin tour or, if you’d prefer to stay on land head over to St. Andrews State Park where they have numerous land and sea activities.
After you’ve played hard you deserve a little R&R so enjoy a relaxing massage at The Spa on Harrison or Little Indigo Spa.
If you want to grab one last meal in town we recommend refueling with an exquisite lunch at Holi Indian Grill, offering a unique blend of Indian cuisine and heritage.
Your weekend getaway concludes with a departure for your next adventure, leaving you with a treasure trove of memories from Panama City, Florida.
