Not Your Father’s Root Beer is all the rage right now. It’s almost impossible to find it in Michigan, but I was able to procure a couple of cases on a recent road trip.
Of course, that meant stopping at a couple of stores in different towns, after making numerous phone calls, but it was completely worth it.
For those unfamiliar with Not Your Father’s Root Beer, it is produced by Small Town Brewery and is an ale brewed with spices to make it taste just like root beer.
By the way, I have also have a Not Your Fathers Old Fashioned Recipe you might like!

I thought there was no way it would taste like root beer, but it tasted just like it. So very good, and, of course, it is perfect for a unique adult root beer float recipe!

The beer achieved a 95 rating from Beer Advocate and is so very delicious. A Small Town Brewery is going to continue to roll out new craft beers and I can’t wait to see what they do next. I’m not much of a beer drinker, I much prefer wine or whiskey, but I absolutely love Not Your Father’s Root Beer, and since I also love a good adult root beer float recipe, the combination had to happen!
Of course, the best way to enjoy root beer is in an adult root beer float. I could have used vanilla ice cream, but I thought the way to go was to use salted caramel ice cream. One giant scoop of ice cream in the flavor of your choice, a heavy splash of rum chatta, and top it off with Not Your Father’s Root Beer.
If serving this Not Your Father’s Root Beer adult root beer float recipe to your friends at a dinner party, you can easily prep in advance by scooping your ice cream into mugs and freezing them into ready to pour. All you have to do is grab the frozen mugs from your freezer and add the rum and Not Your Father’s Root Beer to the top. This keeps it perfectly chilled and takes less time while your guests are waiting.
This ended up being so very good and might be my new favorite ice cream beverage. Making a simple but delicious adult root beer float recipe using the popular Not Your Father’s Root Beer brand of root beer is an ideal choice for fun but casual dinner parties. Everyone loves a delicious ice cream dessert, and the yummy alcoholic twist on this classic makes it even more special.
