Green: Household Hazardous Waste

Once a year our county hosts a Household Hazardous Waste day. It gives us the opportunity to get rid of all those pesky cans of hazardous waste. Alan cleaned out the garage, under the kitchen sink, and checked the basement and found quite a bit that we could recycle. Alan had to work today so I ran the items over to the collection center. Ours was held at the city waste water treatment plant.

I wanted to get a photo of the guys sorting/unloading my chemicals, but they were quick so I had to settle for this instead. Kinda glad I did. I drive down this road EVERY DAY on my way to and from work. Do you see that ginormous chair in the background (to the left of the photo). Today was the first day I noticed it and my kids had to point it out to me. Seriously, how in the hell did I miss that??? My mind apparently needs to work on being a bit more observant. Dylan told me that chair has been there for at least 3 days—whhaatttt??? Ay yi yi…Ithink I need a vacation.

Some of the goodies Alan packed up…a lot was from the garage so I have no idea what was in there:

Don’t forget to check with your city or county to see if they have a recycle program.

Clothesline Challenge Update

I’m going to try adding fabric softener to my rinse cycle and see if that helps (any suggestions??). This week is …Read More

Going Green: Clothesline Challenge

It’s kinda hard to see here…..yes, I know, I know…we need to get the grass cut….not enough hours in the …Read More

Going Green: Clothesline Challenge

Oh boy…might be getting closer to that crazy line, it’s not like I don’t already have enough to do, but I love a good challenge and if it helps the environment AND my pocketbook then I’m all about it. Amy over at the Gift of Green blog threw out the Clothesline Challenge and anyone can …Read More

Going Green: Spring Gardening

We worked in the backyard a this week. Found these growing nicely near the water garden…Looking forward to seeing them in bloom. Alan decided he would like to plant some rhubarb this year. I’ve heard that rhubarb can take over a bit and you have to keep cutting it back. We’ll see how it goes, …Read More
