Northern District Fair

Yikes, I didn’t realize it had been so long since my last blog post. Needless to say things have been very busy the last couple weeks. I’ve had lots of photography sessions (YEA!!!) plus I entered some prints into our local fair. That in addition to working and taking care of the family and there hasn’t been a whole lot of time left for blogging :( Things will slow down soon though when the kids go back to school.

Anyways, as I mentioned above I entered some prints into our local county fair and guess what???? I WON!!! Ok,,,I didn’t win the coveted gold ribbon (which allows you to move onto the State Fair) but, I won first place for landscape, first place for black & white portraiture, and second place in the people catagory. The kids also entered different items and received “A” ribbons for all their entries.

Here’s a little visual tour of the Northern District Fair in Cadillac, MI.

Dylan’s entries—spray paint art (falls under the experimental art catagory):

His colored pencil tulip drawing that he made me for Mother’s Day:

Emma’s Tucan drawing that she made me for Mother’s Day. Emma also entered a knitted hat and a braided bracelet, but I forgot to take photos of them:

Vegetable entries:
Baked good entries—they looked so yummy!
See those two big red and white ribbons—those are mine :)

This is the landscape photo that took first place. It was taken in the dead of winter, but is just a gorgeous image (about froze taking it….)

The ribbon is sorta covering this one, but it’s a daddy holding his new baby boy. I love this image and captured it by chance. I was photographing a session for them and Daddy picked baby up to move him and cuddled him in and turned away and I quickly captured the image. It was a one shot deal….can’t believe how beautiful it turned out. This is probably one of my favorite images ever!
Here’s the photo with out all the ribbons and frame:

This image took second place in the color photography people catagory:

This is the art entry that took the Gold Ribbon and will move onto the State Fair competition—I forgot to get the artist’s name, but huge congratulations to him or her for their win :)

Photos from the carnival:

Emma and her friends call this the “puke-a-nator”—lol
Yep, there they are riding it :)

Emma wouldn’t have anything to do with this ride. Of course, I told her to stay away from it, it didn’t look too safe to me…..
She liked this ride:
There were also animals….

Did you enter anything into your local fair??? Leave a comment, even if it’s just to say hi…it’s nice to know when people stop by for a visit.

Cheers,
Deb
