One of the activities for Emma’s 13th birthday party was to make lip balm. I thought it would be fun for the girls to make their own lip balm, plus it would be a great item for them to take home. It’s a fairly quick project and we had fun making it. You just need a couple of ingredients. I stopped by a health food store to pick up the oils. I had the beeswax at home.
INGREDIENTS
*1oz Beeswax, shredded or cut in small pieces
*1oz Coconut Oil
*2 drops Lime essential oil
*7 drops Orange essential oil
DIRECTIONS
Use an old cheese grater to shred beeswax or cut it into small chunks. Using a small-scale to weigh out the beeswax and coconut oil.
Melt beeswax in a double boiler. I used a glass dish in a small sauce pan as a double boiler.
Once the bees wax is melted add the coconut oil to the pan.
When melted take off of stove and then add lime and orange oil. Stir and pour immediately into lip balm containers. I used a small plastic container to store one batch of lip balm and a small container with a screw top lid for another batch.
This takes just a few minutes to cool down and become a solid. It keeps long-term so no worries about it going bad before you use it all.

Very clever! Looks like fun!
You’re so crafty! I bet the girls loved doing this!
That is a great DIY recipe! My wife and kids are always looking for new crafts. I will pass it on.

I love this idea! I didn't think it'd be so easy but WOW! I imagine your cost will significantly reduce itself once you start re-using containers & shopping sale prices to restock. I find myself paying too much for crafts I'm excited to make the first time…makes me feel like a kid in a candy store!!! {giggle}
Just stopped in to let you know you won the ebook giveaway on my blog. Send me your email address at jenrik06@yahoo.com so I can have your prize sent to you!
Oh and I so need to get a clothes line put up too but I'm such a procrastinator. At least I got my garden in on time this year. That's something to be proud of!
How fun and practical!
That is really cool! I might have to try that.
cant wait to try this!!
I LOVE coconut oil so this is perfect for me.
I wonder if the cost and time is worth the trouble at the end?
