I took my daughter to the movies tonight to watch Rock of Ages and it ROCKED!! I haven’t enjoyed a movie this much in a long time. I wanted to get up and sing and dance during the movie. I hate to admit it, but there might have been a bit of chair dancing and singing going on
It completely took me back to college and all the great rock and roll music from the late 80′s. Ahhhh, those were good days. Brings back memories of college, parties, and my first love (wonder whatever happened to Rick). Em liked the movie as well, but not quite as much as me.

I was a bit hesitant about watching Tom Cruise act in Rock of Age. I’m not a big fan of his, but I really liked his last 2 movies so I thought I MIGHT be ok with it. He exceeded my expectations. As far as I’m concerned he nailed the part of Stacee Jaxx. If you are a fan of Tom Cruise’s you’ll really enjoy the movie since he is shirtless the majority of the time.
I was disappointed by Catherine Zeta-Jones though. I thought she would do a much better job and I was left not caring about her character one way or another.
The rest of the cast brought memorable and entertaining acting to the screen. There were so many parts that had the entire audience laughing out loud and singing along. I love it when a movie evokes so much emotion from the viewers!
My favorite part of the movie is, of course, the music! Hands down LOVED the music. The line up was awesome and included the likes of Def Leppard, Poison, Journey, Jefferson Starship, Guns and Roses and so many more. You can see the full line up here. In case you are wondering, all the music is sang by the actors/actresses and they do an outstanding job!
A disclaimer if you are thinking of taking younger teens. There were a couple scenes that had me double checking the rating of the movie. It is rated PG-13, but I had to check to make sure it wasn’t rated R. The PG-13 rating is given for sexual content, suggestive dancing, some heavy drinking, and language.
Enjoy the show!
Deb

I can’t wait to see this one!
I definitely want to see this … my kind of music from back in the day!
