Planning roadtrips can be a labor intensive endeavor. Endless research on where to go, what to see, places to eat, safe accomodations. As the trip planner it can exhausting trying to keep everything organized while also trying to enjoy your vacation. Trust me, I’ve been there more times than I can count.

The Pennsylvania Department of Tourism has just launched the Roadtrip-a-Matic which does all the planning for you. All you have to do is select a road trip and BAM, where to eat, stay and play is at your finger tips.

There are currently 16 different pa-roadtrips available on their site. Everything thing from Taste Buds on Tour to Ghost Rides. Have kids? There is a road trip for that. Are you a history buff? You guessed it, there is a trip for that. Just about any interest you may have there is a road trip for it.

Because we LOVE road trips in our family and since I love getting off the freeway I had to check out the Shunpicker’s Roadtrip Guide. This looks like a great weekend trip for the family. The guide gives me details on what to tour during our two day visit, where to stay and where to eat.

Tours included a stop at Slovak Folk Crafts and a Barn Tour through Butler, PA. There is also a sidebar on the site with “worthy detours”, be sure to check it out. I found a link to Daffin’s Candies, the largest candy store in the world and home to the famous Chocolate Kingdom. Sounds like a fun detour to me.

The recommendation for lodging is the Apple Butter Inn in Slippery Rock. I would stay there based on just the name. Who doesn’t love apple butter? Seriously, it sounds all cozy and like a perfect place to recharge.

Where to eat? North Country Brewing Company…ahh…it’s like they know me :)

Head on over to their site and check out the fun roadtrips you can take this summer. I would love it if you would come back and let me know your favorite one.

Happy Travels,
