Thinking About Flower Deliveries

I’m in a random kind of mood today and my mind started to wander (always dangerous) and I started thinking about flower deliveries and became curious. When was the last time you received a flower delivery?  I realized that I dont’ hear about it much anymore. Sure, flowers are usually sent to friends and family in the hospital (ie: illness, birth of a new baby, etc). It seems to be what we do if we can’t be there.  However, when was the last time you received flowers, delivered to your home or office, for no other reason than someone was thinking about you?

It’s been a long time since I’ve had flowers delivered to me. Thinking back, I think it was well over a year ago and those were for a blog review; does that even count??  Prior to that I received some from a friend when I opened my photo studio. She had a lovely arrangement delivered since she wasn’t able to attend the open house. It was great receiving a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Flowers just make everything seem a little better

Having them delivered is always a treat. The anticipation of reading the card to see who is thinking of you; the enjoyment of having a beautiful bouquet of fresh cut flowers on the table; flowers just make things brighter.

Occasionally Alan will bring home some flowers. In fact he just brought home some roses about a week ago. We had quite the fight (I was right, of course) and we didn’t end up speaking for an entire day. I think he used the roses to pave the way back to my good graces, it mostly worked. :) He has surprised me with a random bouquet here and there over the years, but mostly, I end up buying flowers for myself.

What has been your experience? Do you like receiving flowers? What is your favorite flower?

Cheers,

    Good Morning!
Though I adore fresh flowers, I don’t let hubby buy them for me…..I prefer to grow them myself. He can take me out for ice cream though!

I agree. We have also stooped sending letters and paper cards (for the most part). Our need for instant/electronic gratification is eliminating the beautiful heartfelt things we can touch. We have become self serve people, in a way. I think some of the kind and chivalrous things that men used to do to woo a woman stopped happening and so we have taken charge of our own happiness. We just buy our own flowers (as I did just yesterday). No delivery charge…
