I seriously beat up my iPhone–poor thing. It has been dropped numerous times, fallen out of the car while driving down the road (don’t ask), buried in the depths of my purse, sat on, etc, etc. I have kept a pretty decent cover on it. I mean, it did protect it fairly well when it crashed on the road although I think that was more luck than anything else.
Recently, I started to think that maybe I should investigate something a bit more sturdy to protect my iPhone. Maybe something with a sturdy cover for the screen as well as the phone. I don’t intend to be so rough with my phone, but life happens and, I’ll admit, I can be a bit absentminded. Sadly, my iPhone pays the price and with the price of iPhones being so much I don’t want to have to replace it.
I was reading press releases a while back and seen one for an iPhone cover called the Tank. I glanced over it and started to move on until I seen the video link. I had some time so I clicked to watch the video. It was pretty amazing.
The video pretty much completely sold me on the Tank, but using is believing so I sent off a request to the company asking for a sample. Fortunately there were samples available and I would be able to put the Tank through its paces. I mean, if anyone can test the durability of an iPhone case it’s me.
The Tank comes in the following colors: black/black; black/pink; military green/orange; white; pink. I received the white/pink case and it immediately made me think of Barbie. Em makes fun of it, but she is not a fan of pink. I don’t care what color it is as long as it lives up to its name. The Tank claims to protect against: Shock/Drop, Vibration, Wind/Rain, Sand/Dust. Perfect. With all the travel I do I need something that will protect against the elements.

The Tank, fresh out of the package, may feel a bit flimsy, but once its on your phone it acts as a tank. Nothing is getting through to your phone. I have used the Tank for a week now and I am really impressed. Em wanted to perform a hammer test on it (just like the video), but I wasn’t willing to test it that far, sorry, but I live and breathe via iPhone and have panic attacks at the thought of something happening to it (kidding, kinda).
I have not worried about my phone since I started using the Tank. It is sturdy and durable. I love that a slideable screen protector is part of the case. It is easy for me to remember to cover my screen when I’m not using it. Unlike another case I’ve used, this case does not pop off when the phone is dropped. It is attached to your phone and not moving.
The Tank comes with a huge belt clip. I think it might be useful to attach to the visor of your car for easy access or clipping to a diaper bag, but beyond that I’m not sure how functional it is. Although, in the clips defense, I am not a fan of anyone wearing their phone on a belt clip (shudder).
The Tank is about 2x the size of the iPhone. My sister thought it was too big, but size matters and I want my phone protected. Bigger is better right? I, personally, don’t find it cumbersome or too big.
Nothing is getting through this Tank to my iPhone and that’s exactly what I want.
The Tank is perfect if you are looking for an iPhone cover that has solid construction and will keep your phone safe. It is modeled after motorcycle helmet engineering. If that type of engineering can keep your head safe think what it can do for your phone. According to the website “the Tank tests number one in impact resistance against the leading brand, and meets or exceeds US military standards.” Excellent, really, what more could you ask for?
