Fun Fall Festivals

I love fall festivals. The air is crisp, the colors (if you are in the North) are amazing. There are apples and pumpkins and mums. Oh, how I love Fall.

Here are some great fall festivals that you might want to consider attending this Fall.

Benzie County, MI October 1 & 2 and October 8 & 9

This festival takes place over two different weekends in two neighboring towns.

The first weekend is in Beulah and Benzonia and includes events such as:

  • Gourd Carving
  • Sidewalk Chalk Contest
  • Hula Hoop Contest
  • Pumpkin Decorating
  • Car & Truck Show
  • and much, much more.
The second weekend takes place in Frankfort. These are some of the events:
  • Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off
  • Horse Drawn Wagon Rides
  • Ed Moody’s famous Pumpkin Carvings
  • Parade
  • and so much more.
Damariscotta, ME October 7-9, 2011
The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest looks so awesome! They carve out HUGE pumpkins, get in them, and race them down the river. How freaking cool is that! Don’t velieve me, check out this video:

Some fun things to do at this festival include a giant pumpkin weigh off, giant pumpkin carving, pumpkin chuckin’, pumpkin dessert making, pie eating, underwater carving, and lots of children’s activities.

Sonoma County, CA September 30-Oct 2,  2011
For my friends on the West Coast I found this harvest festival in Sonoma county that looks like a lot of fun. IMO, the best part is the  3 days of wine tasting with 150+ wineries. There is also a championship grape stomp, art show, and chef demonstrations.

Banner Elk, NC October 15-16, 2011

The Wooly Worm Festivals 100th Anniversary is this year. The festival has worm races, crafs, food, and rides. Fun for the entire family. One of the neat perks about this festival is that all proceeds are given back to the community, plus it has a really cool name. :)

 Atlanta, GA Sept 30-Oct 30 (Fridays-Sunday)

This annual event takes place at Stone Mountain. They offer a lot of fun different activities including: dress your own scarecrow, family scavenger hunt, kids trick or treat scavenger hunt, pumpkin party patch, costume contest, parade and a lot more.

Do you enjoy fall festivals?? Which are your favorites??

Cheers,
