BBQ, Ice Cream, & The 4th of July

I love the 4th of July. It is usually the pinnacle of summer here in northern Michigan. It has finally warmed up, the days are long day and the nights are hot. I. Love. It.

The best part of the 4th of July is watching fireworks explode in the night sky. I can be pretty sentimental and I will tear up watching the fireworks, especially if there is patriotic music playing. To me, the fireworks represent a celebration of all the freedoms we enjoy in the United States. We may not have a perfect country, but it’s a pretty damn good place to live. We are so very lucky to live in a country where we are free to pursue our dreams regardless of age, race, religion, or sex. That, my friends, is worth celebrating!

In honor of the 4th of July we will be having a BBQ with friends and family. We will be firing up the grill and cooking up some tasty side dishes.

mmmm…food just off the grill smells SOOOO good!

The BBQ will be followed up with a tasty ice cream sundae bar. Alan’s family reigns supreme when it comes to ice cream. Before we were married I never really bothered with ice cream, after marriage, well, let’s just say I’ve been well educated in the good and the bad of ice cream. Btw, this photo is from a sundae bar I set up for just us. The cookout sundae bar will be quite extravagant with a wide variety of toppings. Personally, I like my ice cream with no chocolate so I tend to go towards the fruit and nuts for toppings.  Edy’s is my ice cream of choice.  It’s delicious PLUS comes in a flavor for everyone.  Have you tried the Apple Pie ice cream yet??? yum!

Alan getting ready to enjoy his sundae. Doesn’t he look happy!

If you don’t feel like setting up a sundae bar just grab a couple boxes of drumsticks, it’s like a sundae on a cone :)

I made a little video of our immediate family BBQ & Ice Cream event if you want a little look see. It’s the first video I’ve ever made so please be kind.

GOOD NEWS
