National bestselling author L.A. Banks’s electrifying new paranormal series is set in a sizzling world where Dark and Light are trapped in an eternal struggle for the fate of mankind.Celeste Jackson has fought all her life against a fog of hallucination and substance abuse, but it’s not until she meets her protector, Azrael, an angel who has left the safety of the Light, that she learns of the evil forces that have been trying to ruin her, and why. A fierce battle for control of the mortal realm is brewing, and only Celeste—with the help of the Remnant, her half-human, half-angel brethren—can stand in the way. Together, Celeste and Azrael must gather an army of sensitives to defeat the dark powers that have ruled humanity for centuries, but time is running out. If Azrael surrenders to his growing desire for Celeste, he risks being trapped among humanity forever. But the longer he stays, the harder she is to resist. To save the world, Celeste must draw on her own dark experiences with addiction to help Azrael overcome the one temptation that could possibly make him an eternal prisoner—his obsession with her.

MY THOUGHTS:
Hmmm, conflicting thoughts on this book. The hero is thrown to earth from heaven and arrives butt @ss nikkid without much of a clue of how to survive in the earthly world. He’s a quick study though and figures out how to fight when needed, but the other half of the time he’s a mamby pamby (gag!! I like my heroes strong with a sensitive side, but this was not the case). During the scenes of him acting like a strong @ss kicking hero I really enjoyed the book. The parts of him being a wuss I hated. Another part that really bothered me was that the hero comes to Earth as a pure angel that isn’t to be tainted by the sins of Earth, but low and behold he has sex with the heroine because, surprise, she’s not really 100% human so it makes it o.k. (HEAD THUNK!!!)

That’s just the hero part. The heroine is an addict (alcohol, drugs, etc)in an abusive relationship who, in the beginning, wants to commit suicide. However, she meets the hero and is able to do a complete 180 in about 3 pages and becomes a very strong willed, “life is worth living” heroine…sigh….

I’m all about suspending belief to enjoy a book, but really, this is pushing it just a bit too far even for me. Did I hate the book?? Not completely, I was just frustrated by certain aspects of it. Not sure I would read any further books by this author though.

MY RATING: 2/5
