We were up before dawn and headed to Sanibel by 645 a.m. Our plan was to go to Blind Pass and arrive before sunrise…well…that didn’t happen. Top speed on the island is about 35mph so it took us a lot longer to get there than we thought. When we arrived the beach was already full of shell seekers. Luckily, there was one spot left in the parking lot. We spent over 3 hours just walking along the beach.
Lots of shells on the beach:
Alan’s lucky find of the day…
Oh…so very lovely….
After shelling it was back to the hotel for a short siesta. We then drove down to Lover’s Key State Park and spent some time at the beach. That may have been a bad idea since this was the traffic we ran into on the way back. One hour to go 4 miles….it was awful!
What we found today…. (Actually the spiney treasure box and a couple of the shell are from a really sweet couple from Minnesota that we met)
Sanibel is definately a nice island with beautiful beaches. However, be warned that if you travel during prime season you are going to have to deal with a lot of traffic. Tomorrow is our last full day here. Hope to spend most of it on the beach
Cheers,
Deb
ps…once again all above images are from the iPhone. I forgot my gadget at home that downloads images off my camera to the computer

Deb, so glad that you have a wonderful time. I love shelling and spend days over days on the beach!I even painted some. Oh I miss the beaches!
How grand of a trip! I am so happy for you and what great finds…I'm an exploring type like you two. Love the shell finding.
