I’ve never attended a blog conference before, but I am seriously considering going to one or two in 2011. I think the opportunity to meet with other women and learn from each other would be a fantastic experience. Plus, I would love to meet some of my favorite bloggers and put names with faces. However, a little part of me wonders if its like one big high school event with everyone in their own little cliques…hmmmm…something to think about.
I have been keeping current with upcoming conferences over at Blog Conference Guide for the (Un)Experienced, which is an awesome site for everything in the blog conference world.
Here’s a few that I’m considering for 2011:
I would LOVE to attend Blissdom in January, but unless a free ticket comes through for me that probably won’t be happening. Keep your fingers crossed.
Disney is hosting the Social Media Moms Celebrations again this year. This is by invitation only. I’m following them on twitter with hopes that I can wiggle an invite out of them. This would be a lot of fun. Disney knows how to throw a party!!
Speaking of great parties. Momdot.com hosts Brandcation events. She has hosted one in New Orleans and one in Orlando. I wanted to go to the Orlando one so freaking bad, but it just didn’t fit into my schedule. I’m keeping an eye on her site to see when the next event is happening. It is going on the calendar immediately.
Double Duty Divas are hosting a Reviewers Retreat at Great Wolf Lodge, Poconos, in May. That looks like its shaping up to be a great retreat. It’s only about a 12 hour drive from the house so it’s completely do able.
Those seem to be the best options for me for 2011. I, of course, would love to attend BlogHer 2011 in San Diego. However, unless my ship comes in that one won’t be happening.
I know the big bloggers find sponsors so that they can attend this event, but I don’t know that anyone would sponsor me and my itty bitty blog
I’ll keep this option on reserve for 2012.
A non-blog conference that is sure to rock the world is the World Domination Summit hosted by Chris Guillebeau. This summit is going to be kickass. In fact, I would consider forgoing all the above mentioned conferences to have the opportunity to attend this summit, but June+Portland+Ticket Price=not likely to attend. However, if you have the ability to go I would highly recommend it. My best guess is that this one will sell out before the end of the year.
Lordy, lordy, I really need to find more disposable income.
Are you planning on attending any blog conferences in 2011?? Which ones do you want to go to?? Do you know anyone that would like to sponsor my attendance at one of these conferences??? (figure it doesn’t hurt to ask) Thoughts?? Opinions?? Talk to me.
