I really, really hate it when corporate America tries to pull one over on the public! I have always trusted the Campbell name and felt confident in using their products. However, it was recently pointed out to me that Campbell’s 25% less sodium tomato soup has the EXACT SAME AMOUNT of sodium as the regular tomato soup!! Huh, 25% less, really??? I don’t think so. Don’t believe me, think Campbell soup can’t get away with lying to you?? Well, here’s the nutritional link for their regular tomato soup and here’s the link to the 25% less sodium soup. To add a little salt to the wound (yes, pun intended) the 25% less sodium soup costs approximately $1 more!
Since I believe in the power of the word (and of the internet) I sent this email to Campbells:
Can you please explain how you are able to claim that your reduced sodium tomato soup has 25% less sodium than your regular tomato soup? Your label states “25% less sodium than our regular product” However, when I compared both cans the sodium content is identical, both have 480 mg! I find this to be a fraudulent statement from you and am more than a bit upset. I have trusted Campbell’s for years, but I have now lost complete faith in you. I look forward to your reply.

That’s right…no reply from them. It’s been four days and no response.
Is anyone else reading the labels differently?? Have I missed something?

That's disappointing. I'm a big fan of Campbell's soups, too. Good thing I don't buy the "less sodium" kinds… I like me some salt!
