Garden 9-1-1

Oh boy….this is our first year of gardening and it sure has been a learning experience. I know we planted the squash plants too close together and probably should have planted less of them. I went out last night to check the garden and the squash was not looking well at all. Upon closer inspection I noticed that almost a lot of the roots were exposed–yikes!!

We decided that the best course of action would be to cut off all the dead leaves and add LOTS more dirt. So tonight we performed some gardening surgery, but I’m not sure the plants will make it. The zucchini plants are producing well (yeah, I know, suprise, suprise….I think zucchini always does well—lol).

Anywho, here’s some pics of the garden…what do you think. Will they make it???

This is after we added lots of dirt. The leaves look funny–almost turning a white color.

LOL–Alan thought this would be a fun photo:
The space is only about 4′x8′
Keeping my fingers crossed that they will rebound. There are quite a few buds on the plants. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :)

    Hi Deb,
It kind of looks like you have a bad case of powdery mildew. Our cool nights could be to blame. I've never had much luck treating that, but sometimes its not fatal. Google powdery mildew and maybe try a home concoction on 1/2 the plant(s), and see if it helps.
