My friend, who runs the 4-H program in our county, hosted a picnic tonight for the Japanese summer exchange program. Students from Japan come stay for one month with a family here in Michigan. The ages for this program is 11-14. It was nice to see young children branching out and experiencing new cultures. Neither spoke English very well, but we seemed to communicate ok.
Em and I are hoping to get more involved in 4-H. I’ve already signed up to be head chaperon for Exploration Days next June in Lansing…3 days of fun, learning, and meeting new people–yea!!!
Yusuke gave us each this lovely gift. He is very talented in paper folding. The little bag included 2 candy treats–I’ve yet to try them.
Yusuke with his host family:
Yep, its a very small group. Only 3 students are visiting and one of the families was unable to attend.

I always think it's so great of people to host these kids. It gives them such a wonderful learning experience. I guess it teaches US something too!
Have a great weekend
