Last week the weather was fantastic. We got the clothesline up, found the clothes pins and I went to town hanging clothes out. The kids aren’t thrilled with the idea–they miss soft fluffy towels. I’m going to try adding fabric softener to my rinse cycle and see if that helps (any suggestions??). This week is not looking too good so far…it’s been mostly rain
Week Ending 5/24/09 (Loads on the line vs. in the dryer)
Clothesline: 4
Dryer: 2

Good for you, Deb! I love “Snuggle”.
Now I’ve been told to get the “fluffiness” back into your clothes, you can put them in the dryer for just a few minutes. I don’t think it’s the heat so much as the tumbling action that gives the clothing that soft feeling. That wouldn’t count against the clothesline method would it???
Another idea would be to add 1/2 cup of vinegar to your rinse cycle instead of fabric softener…OR you could mix 1/4 cup softener with a spray bottle full of water for a homemade wrinkle releaser you can mist on the clothes before you take them off the line. They’ll be softer and you won’t have as much ironing (if any).
Jennifer—thanks for the advice. I’ll give one or both a try.
